However, Personal Statement si different, this will focus more on your personal experiences and how motivated you are to take up that course.
Keep in mind that, most PS is a requirement specific to universities while SOP or LOI is a general requirement.

The emphasis will not be on the fact that you were in a position of significance rather on how the position came to shape you as a person. The focus should be on the learning points. But having the certificates as a backup just in case does not hurt!

Hi Ria, just because you did not win the Codejam does not mean you did not learn anything from it. In your SOP the emphasis should be on convincing the Admission Committee of the university that your experience was enriching and you learnt a lot from your experience.
